dedicated to Charlotte Beck, who this song is about. She heard all of these songs sent over google drive first from SCAD and helped me build my confidence in my writing :)
The song contains a reference to the song I Felt Your Shape by the Microphones, in a line contemplating ways to show my affection. We both love that song and it's about giving a hug, so I thought it was fitting.
The outro was inspired by the songs I Want Wind to Blow and the title track the Glow, pt. 2, both with wonderful rich vamp outros that give the songs such wonderful vibes. So in a way, this is also a tribute to Phil Elverum. Thanks for the music, Phil!!!
lyrics
Oh, good morning
I stretch my legs out, regretting
My voice is gone, what for
Then I remember, it's our second & last December
I wish we'd stayed out more
That's what friends are for
There's no loving quite like doing nothing with you
How can I convey? Friendly foreplay?
In the kitchen on your birthday?
I wouldn't have it any other way
There's something
I scratch my brain, I'm forgetting
The days before you
Knew me - did anyone try being so mine,
or was I so alone?
How was I to know?
There's no living quite like sinning with you
Once a year maligned,
But never so unkind
Trust me when I say that I don't mind
Now nothing
But 4 hours stop us from touching
I see you still but I
Miss you, my car feels empty, my house feels empty, my life feels empty
I know, I knew you'd have to go
There's no dying quite like when I'm crying without you
5 months, I'll suck it up
Is this growing up?
Trust me when I say that I love you
Trust me when I say that I love you
Trust me when I say that I love you
Trust me when I say that I love you
Trust me when I say that I love you
Trust me when I say that I love you
